I’m a Social Media Expert. But sometimes, even I need to log off.

Here’s how (and why!) boundaries are part of my 2026 digital marketing strategy.

here’s me, logged off, existing in real life.

Social Media is my 9 to 5.

And don’t get me wrong: that makes me extremely lucky. We ARE having the most fun.

But lately, I’ve started to feel burnt out. It started with the influx of advertisements on TikTok: it’s all ads. And TikTok has always been that way- but lately, it’s been so. Much. More. Annoying. And I never feel that way- my FYP is usually filled with artists, sketch comedy, fashion, and (you guessed it) digital marketing strategy.

Then my friends called me out for my screen time. We met up and at some point, the conversation turned to New Years Resolutions. One of my friends is blocking her apps because her “screen time” was too high; this is a stat you can check in your Settings. So we all decided to check ours.

They were laughing about averaging 4 hours a day. About having 40/50 “phone pick-ups,” or amounts of times they picked up their phone each day.

I was coming in at 10 hour days. HUNDREDS of phone pick ups a day. 😅

Seriously… that’s embarrassing. I can’t even blame a stat like that working in social media.

I’m a big fan of New Years Resolutions. Every year in December, I start brainstorming what I want the end of the next year to look like: how I want to feel, who I want to be. And on the morning of January 1st, I open my Notes app and write down everything I want to accomplish by the end of the year. And I stick to it.

But this isn’t about resolutions, it’s about boundaries. I realized that in order to continue to love this, I need to step back to gain new perspective and new appreciation. Spending less time online makes it more special to log in and see something that really resonates.

Social media is my 9 to 5. And in order to continue to love it, it has to stay my 9 to 5: I’m only logging in during those hours, and I’m pretty busy during work! So if you see a little bit less of me, just know it’s part of my strategy. When I post, you’re going to love my content. When I reply to a message, it’s going to be even more well thought-out than before. And when I give social media advice, it’s going to be not from a place of obsession, but appreciation for the craft.

How are you guys setting boundaries in 2026?
