THE PERFORMANCE METHOD
A framework for building brands people follow.
No, not that Method. While I’m not particularly devoted to Stanislavski, this approach does borrow from the world of acting training to rethink how brands show up online.
THE PREMISE:
Most brands approach social media like a bulletin board.
Post the listing. Share the announcement. Promote the product.
But the platforms people spend their time on were never built for announcements. They were built for stories.
The brands that grow online understand this instinctively. They build recognizable voices, recurring formats, and content people return to because it feels familiar, entertaining, or insightful. Instead of posting randomly or chasing trends, they create something audiences want to follow.
In other words, they treat their digital presence less like advertising and more like a performance.
This idea is the foundation of the Social Media as Performance Framework, which I apply to every client.
THE INTERNET ISN’T A BILLBOARD, IT’S A STAGE.
THE BRANDS THAT WIN ONLINE DON’T JUST SHARE INFORMATION. THEY CREATE NARRATIVES AUDIENCES RETURN TO,
OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
BECAUSE THE BRANDS THAT GROW ONLINE AREN’T JUST POSTING.
THEY’RE PERFORMING.
THE FRAMEWORK:
The Performance Method is build on 3 core elements:
ACT I: THE CHARACTER
Every memorable performance begins with a character. In digital marketing, that means defining the voice, personality, and perspective that make your brand recognizable. This step ensures your content feels consistent and authentic rather than generic.
ACT II: THE NARRATIVE
Audiences follow stories, not announcements. By developing recurring content formats and themes, we create a narrative structure that gives your audience a reason to come back again and again.
ACT III: THE STAGE
Your digital platforms become the stage where the performance unfolds. Social media, email marketing, search visibility, and lead funnels all work together to attract attention, build trust, and convert audiences into clients.
CHARACTER → NARRATIVE → STAGE
THE GRAND FINALE
When marketing operates like a performance, each piece of content strengthens the last.
Your audience begins to recognize your voice.
Your content becomes shareable.
Your authority grows across platforms.
Instead of constantly chasing attention, your brand begins to attract it.
And over time, that momentum compounds into something much more powerful than a few successful posts: it becomes a brand people remember.
